CHICAGO – Cool Museums Not To Miss In Chicago
Cool Museums Not To Miss In Chicago
POSTED ON MARCH 20, 2019Chicago has several cool museums that are worth checking out. Traveling is about learning, and what best way to learn than by visiting museums and interactive aquariums. We bought the CityPASS Booklet which included the Shedd Aquarium, The Field Museum of Natural History, a choice between the Museum of Science and Industry or the 360 Chicago, and another choice between the Adler Planetarium or the Art Institute of Chicago. Here are the ones we chose:
Shedd Aquarium
Not sure if it was the fact that it was winter when we visited or towards the end of closing time, but there was barely anyone in the aquarium. This made for an awesome experience as we got to explore the aquarium peacefully.
The Shedd Aquarium had white belugas that were so adorable and entertaining, probably Rosy’s favorites. There’s so much sea life from sea turtles, otters, penguins, sea horses, and countless fishes.
This is a great place for families as they have kid-friendly areas and lots of hands-on activities. If you like aquariums, you should check this place out!
The Field Museum of Natural History
The Field Museum is such a big museum with lots to see. In fact, it is one of the largest museums of the world. We recommend spending at least an hour and a half to three or four hours. Or actually, just go there for half a day. Our favorite halls were the Hall of Gems, Ancient Egypt and the Animal Halls. The Hall of Gems had a huge collection of diamonds and gems. Definitely, Rosy’s favorite. As we walked through Ancient Egypt, we observed more than twenty human mummies and several animal mummies. The Animal Halls had never-ending walls and corners with a variety of animals from Africa and Asia.
The museum pass included a 3D show “Mysteries of China” which was very interesting and worth watching. We learned new things about China that inspired us to visit China next!
The Adler Planetarium
For a different Chicago activity, check out The Adler Planetarium. We did not spend a lot of time at the planetarium, however, we enjoyed looking at all the cool telescopes from ancient to modern times. We had access to two shows: “Cosmic Wonder” and “Planet Nine.” Both shows were entertaining at first, but we fell asleep toward the end of both shows. You can’t blame us, we had been walking all over the city during the day. Oops!
